Goatmeat

Global average water footprint: 4000 litres for 1 kg of goat meat.

In an industrial farming system, it takes 2 years on average before the goat is slaughtered.
It will produce 20 kg of fresh goat meat.

During its lifetime the goat consumes about 55 kg of grains (oats, corn, barley, canola meal and other small grains), 165 kg of roughages (pasture, silage and hay) and 3.5 cubic meters of water for drinking and servicing the farmhouse.

This means that to produce one kilogram of goat meat, we use about 2.75 kg of grains and 175 litres of drinking and servicing water. Producing 2.75 kg of feed of this composition takes about 4 m3 of water in average.
